Saddle Up! AsIAm 100km Cycle 2019
Calling all Cyclists! We need your help!
AsIAm, Ireland’s leading autism charity, is delighted to announce that our 4th Annual 100km Cycle will take place on Saturday 11th May..
Our organisation’s mission is to build an autism-friendly Ireland – one in which every autistic person is accepted “as they are” and has the opportunity to reach their personal potential. Whilst much has been achieved in terms of autism awareness in recent year huge barriers to inclusion remain. Lack of supports and services, school exclusion, unemployment and mental health challenges are just some of the barriers the 1 in 65 people in Ireland who are autistic, and our families, face. This is not inevitable and we believe with the right supports and public policy and a truly informed society, autistic people can thrive and make a unique, valuable contribution to Ireland. The Cycle kicks off in Seapoint Rugby Club at 9am before proceeding through the Wicklow Mountains and winding back up at the Club for a BBQ and celebration of the day.The event is capped at 100 participants and is aimed at experienced cyclists who can commit to a target of €500 in sponsorship. This is to limit the risk, maximise funds raised and ensure the day has a nice, friendly atmosphere where cyclists have an opportunity to network and get to know each other. Each year many business people and other professionals get involved and use it as an opportunity to team build and create new connections.
Each participant receives a jersey prior to the event to be worn on the day. In addition, we will provide lunch and refreshments throughout the day as well as putting in place all the required logistical and health and safety supports.
So think you are up to the challenge? Want to give it a go and help raise funds to improve the lives of autistic people and our families? Click the “Register Now” button below and we will be in touch with everything you need to “mount your saddle” on the 11th May. We encourage early registration to avoid disappointment!
Is cycling not for you but you would still like to support the event? We have a range of corporate sponsorship opportunities, including jersey sponsorship, which you can find out more about by emailing [email protected]
Our small team delivers a range of programmes right across Ireland but we only receive 15% of our costs from the State – the remainder must be raised through our training programmes and fundraising. This event is presently AsIAm’s only self-organised fundraising event and plays a critical role in funding our programmes, covering the cost of a least one Programme Officer each year.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
