Thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page.
This September I'll be taking part in the Cycle Against Suicide - Mizen 2 Malin Challenge. The cycle will take place over 6 days and cover 710km. I've never done anything like this before but I jumped at the opportunity to get involved as a way to raise awareness and funds for Cycle Against Suicide's Buddy Initiative.
This is a new initiative aimed at developing and embedding a network of peer support buddies (certified individuals) in communities across Ireland.
Peer support is an emerging practice within the mental health sector and evidence has shown that it can help improve individuals well being. Critically it offers timely support to those in need (studies have shown that participants' levels of anxiety, perceived stress, coping strategies and self esteem all improve) and has resulted in a significant reduction in crisis services and hospitalisation.
I strongly believe that this level of support is urgently needed throughout Ireland and all funds raised will go directly towards this cause.
Thank you so much for your support, It means a lot.
