I'm taking part in Croke Park Abseil for Childhood Cancer Ireland.
On the 3rd of March 2014, my 21 month old daughter Isobel and I spent our first night in Children's Health Ireland at Crumlin. We heard words like leukaemia, lymphoma, kidney tumours, Wilms tumours, and Neuroblastoma (all types of Childhood Cancer), I can still feel that gut wrenching fear and the denial.
Childhood Cancer entered our life and changed it forever leaving behind many scars, both emotional and physical.
Every day, I thank our lucky stars Isobel is still here, cracking jokes, winding everyone up after facing down the monster of childhood cancer twice, and a few scares.
I am unsure if the shadow of this monster will ever leave us, but we will keep moving forward day by day, one step at a time and one follow-up clinic at a time.
For now, I count my many blessings as I look at our courageous, caring, funny little girl and her super strong, caring, and protective sisters.
To say the journey of through Childhood Cancer is very lonely, a scary place to be is an understatement!
I've chosen to fundraise for Childhood Cancer Ireland . All funds raised here will go directly towards emotional and practical supports for other families affected by this dreadful disease.
I hope you can help me by donating whatever you can. Simply click the Donate button above. All donations are processed securely.
