Walk the Camino de Santiago to raise vital funds for Irish Wheelchair Association in May 2020 and celebrate our 60th Anniversary in style!

 Embark on the challenge of a lifetime and join  Irish Wheelchair Association on the final 103km of the Portuguese Coastal Route of the Camino de Santiago, following a beautiful trail from the maritime city of Vigo to the wonderful historic city of Santiago de Compostela. 

The Coastal Camino Way takes place from Saturday May 9th to Saturday May 16th, 2020 and is achievable for people of all age groups and all levels of fitness. Both the route and accommodation are fully wheelchair accessible but adapted rooms are limited so please make enquires as soon as possible to check availability.

2020 see’s the Irish Wheelchair Association celebrate it’s 60th Anniversary.  The organisation has grown over the last 60 years and now supports over 20,000 members around the country.  We deliver services to individuals in their own homes, assistance with getting out of bed, dressing, cooking, shopping, day to day activities that allow individuals to have independence in their own homes. We also have 57 Resource Outreach Centre’s all over Ireland, these are attended every day by 1000’s of members which allows for social interaction, education, arts & crafts and personalised development plans.  We support driving lessons for people with physical disabilities and deliver a fantastic sports programme.  

Ireland has changed over the last 60 years but the Irish Wheelchair Associations vision remains the same – where people with disabilities enjoy equal rights, choices and opportunities in how they live their lives. All participants on the Coastal Camino are required to raise a fundraising target of €1000, which will go directly to ensuring that the Irish Wheelchair Association can continue to deliver our vital services to our 20,000 members.
