Hurling For Cancer Research was established in 2011 when leading flat trainer and hurling fanatic, Jim Bolger challenged champion jockey Davy Russell and his weigh room colleagues to a game of hurling against him and his staff all in support of raising funds and awareness for cancer research.
Since then, the event has helped raise in excess of €1.5 Million towards an overall investment from the Irish Cancer Society of €30 Million in life-changing clinical trials and cutting-edge cancer research studies. Each year the Society funds over 100 cancer researchers across Ireland, thanks to the support of events such as Hurling For Cancer Research.
