For anyone not familiar with @Freezbrury, here’s a quick catch up. The concept was introduced to us by Damian Browne in 2019, the challenge was to spend 1 minute in the water on February 1st, 2 minutes on the 2nd, and building up to 28 minutes on the 28th. You are expected to do this in just a swimsuit, full body in the water throughout the time, and dunking your head under the water once per minute in the water. The challenge is obviously incredibly difficult physically but also psychologically. As the time goes on you will find it harder and harder to battle that voice in your head telling you to give up that you can’t complete the challenge.
That’s where we drew the connection between the @Freezbrury challenge and the battle with depression. We realised how difficult the challenge was to do on your own, and how much easier it became when you had support beside you, whether they were in the water with you or on the shore supporting. The same way that the mental health charities make the battle against depression much more manageable.
This is @Freezbrury’s 5th year raising funds and awareness for mental health charities all around Ireland.
Any donation you can afford will be greatly appreciated by the charities that do such amazing work in trying to help those suffering.
