3 years ago my Dad died of Cancer. It was a very short illness, so has taken me a while to get my head around the fact that he is no longer here.
The week before he passed away, a family very close to our hearts were faced with the most unimaginable news. Their gorgeous 8 month old baby boy was diagnosed with Leukemia.
We were all completley rocked by this news, but my Dad in particular was devastated.
This brave boy (who will be 4 in October) and his incredibly strong parents have fought a tough battle for the past few years, but thankfully on the 29th of September he will successfully complete his last Chemotherepy treatment and looks forward to a bright and fun filled future.
Through this long journey, they have in particular named Aoibheann's Pink Tie as a charity that has provided them with amazing practical support that can’t be measured.
After Dad passed away, I really wanted to do some fundraising in his honor.
At the end of this month, I am donating my hair to The Little Princess Trust, who provide real hair wigs, free of charge, to children across Ireland and the UK that have lost their own hair through cancer treatment.
In doing this I hope to raise some much needed funds for Aoibheann's Pink Tie Charity, who provide financial and practical support to children and their families battling cancer in Ireland.
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month, so please donate what you can to a very worthy charity.
