Rovers has given so many great times over the years – from vague memories of being dropped in front of a B&W telly with my aunt in Artane while my parents went to Dalymount in ’83, seeing Dave Beasant getting booked for signing autographs for the shed in the early ‘90’s, watching under lights on the way to the treble in ’94, selling my Saw Doctors tickets during Rag Week in Galway in ‘98 to get a bus ticket for the League Cup final in Tolka, the unprecedented success that followed in the years after losing to Sporting Fingal in the 2009 final – I’m still trying to dry off after that day, right up to our recent adventures in Europe and the prospect of a state of the art stadium redevelopment.
There have been a few dark days along the way but we’ll keep the glass half full – they make the good times all the sweeter.
We are very lucky to have a top class, community run football club in our town and for anyone who has taken some pleasure from watching the Rovers over the years, I’d be very grateful of your support.
